1. Petroleum Rights
According to the Petroleum Law, three types of Petroleum Rights may be granted: preliminary permit, license and lease.
Preliminary Permit: a right to perform preliminary surveys within the permit area, based on field characteristics and potential. This right is limited to 18 months.
License: The exploration license is granted for three years with the option of up to seven years-extension, subject to a decision by the Petroleum Commissioner. A license are will not exceed 400 thousand dunams.
Lease: The right to produce oil and gas in the right area, for a period of 30 years with the option to extend to 20 additional years. A Lease is granted by the Petroleum Commissioner after he has approved the production is financially profitable (a “commercial discovery”). The size of the lease area shall not exceed 250 thousand dunams.
